Back in May, Leeds Pride announced with a heavy heart that its 15th birthday celebrations would be put on hold until 2021. The decision prioritised the health, safety and wellbeing of communities, volunteers and participants, and we can’t wait for May next year to roll around so we can hopefully all party in person!
In the meantime, Partners in Pride is putting on #LeedsVirtualPride for 2020. It’s a virtual celebration of all things LGBTQ+ Pride, with sessions for LGBT+ people and their allies taking place online. Sessions include:
• Home workouts
• DJ sets
• Talks and seminars
• Arts & crafts
Partners in Pride is in its fourth year, made up of Inspire North, Leeds Mind, Touchstone and other voluntary sector organisations. At events in previous years, Partners in Pride has had stalls talking about pride and mental health, encouraging people to take care of their wellbeing. As a collective, we’ve spoken to thousands of people about LGBT+ mental health at Pride since 2016 and are committed to continuing the conversation whilst stigma in mental health exists.
