Touchstone is excited to announce the launch of “Barnsley Futures” – a new service providing support for individuals experiencing complex needs in Barnsley. The new service will be delivered in partnership with West Yorkshire CRC (managing the service) and Foundation, and is funded by Barnsley Council.
Barnsley Futures will work with individuals over 25 who are experiencing complex needs, including mental health, reoffending, substance misuse, homelessness and family breakdown. The service will deliver holistic, person-centred, flexible support based around finding and sustaining suitable independent living . Barnsley Futures will support individuals to be leaders in their recovery journeys, empowering individuals to make changes and build on their own strengths, interests and assets.
Touchstone will support individuals throughout their journey, focusing on motivating and supporting them to meet their goals. Touchtone will also be leading on Peer Support within the service, building on the wealth of lived experience and knowledge held by Peers and facilitating Peer Support Networks and learning across the service.
All work will be built around the following six core principles;
Cllr Jenny Platts, Cabinet Spokesperson for Communities, said: “Last year, the council put its domestic violence, substance misuse and multiple needs services out to tender. Following this, a number of new service providers were selected.
“Developing Initiatives for Support in the Community (DISC) has been awarded the contract to deliver substance misuse services and Independent Domestic Abuse Services (IDAS) will deliver domestic violence services. For multiple needs, Centrepoint will deliver services to those aged 16-24 years, while West Yorkshire CRC will provide services to those aged 25 and over.”
Barnsley Futures will support up to 66 people at any given time, living in supported accommodation, and at least 40 other service users living in the local community.
Other partners involved in Barnsley Futures include Barnsley Housing Options; apprenticeships and training company Interserve Learning & Employment; DISC, the substance misuse support charity; South Yorkshire Housing Association and Barnsley Churches Drop In.
