As part of our work in Community Development work, we are a partner in two Active Travel projects. We run walking groups and other outdoor activities open to people living in Leeds!
Walk it, Ride it
We currently run two weekly walking groups as part of the Walk it, Ride it Project. The groups are for anyone that wants to get out walking, learn some new skills and meet new people. We look at building confidence and fitness through walks in nature and run classroom sessions, where we help you build skills to develop into an independent hiker.
This project is funded by the Department for Transport and is running in partnership with Leeds City Council.
Active Travel hub for East Leeds
The new hub is a place to learn and enquire about all things cycling, walking and wheeling in and around the city. We are working on this project in partnership with Leeds Bike Mill. As part of the hub, we run:
- Monthly weekend drop-in sessions on the first Saturday of the month, at Leeds Bike Mill, 37 Mabgate Green, Leeds, LS9 7DS
- Countryside walks running every Friday or Saturday every month in 2025. These routes are 5-10 mile walks and are accessible via public transport. Dates for these walks are: 30th May, 6th June, 12th July, 9th August, 19th September, 18th October, 15th November, 12th December. How do Referrals Work
This project is aimed at people living in the East of Leeds. If you live outside of this area, please do call as our team can still refer you through to other local walking groups. Please call or email Joe to refer on:

At Touchstone, we have a new free walking group in East Leeds. We will be exploring the natural spaces around Burmantofts, Harehills, Richmond Hill and further afield.
