Beacon is a consortium of 3 local organisations that has been commissioned by Leeds City Council to provide a new city wide Housing Related Support (HRS) accommodation service.
Leeds Housing Concern, Touchstone and Foundation are working together to provide a new Housing Related Support accommodation service in Leeds from July 2017. The service will aim to promote wellbeing and independence for those with complex needs, including mental health needs.
Named “Beacon”, the new service will support vulnerable adults, couples and families. The service aims to reduce homelessness and to address housing need, while allowing clients to have choice and control over their support.
Accommodation will be delivered through a mixture of intensive accommodation with access to staff 24 hours a day and community dispersed properties with visiting support.
By working in partnership with other agencies, Beacon will support clients, including those with complex needs, to create a support plan that meets their individual needs and uses their personal strengths.
Clients will also have the opportunity to access peer support, befriending and volunteering, to increase social contact and engagement.
The service is designed to be accessible to people from a wide range of ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds and to ensure that people are aware of and able to access the opportunities available to them.
