Thoughts of Suicide?
Thoughts of self-harm?
Feeling like you don’t know where to turn?
You are not alone.
We are – Here For You.
Here For You are open every day of the year for anybody aged 16 years or older, who is struggling to cope or experiencing thoughts around suicide or self-harm. We offer face-to-face confidential support in our local safe spaces across Leeds, Kirklees, and Wakefield, which are free to access without the need for GP or hospital referral.
You do not need a home address or local GP to access this service.
You can access us if you are new to the area, or you are homeless.
We support people based on their nearest hospital, as we understand A&E is not always the best place when you are struggling with your emotions.
We offer 45minute 1-to-1 support, which can be face to face, or over the phone if you struggle to leave your home. We also offer a safe space where you can be around other people and have access to free food, refreshments, and signposting to other support locally if you need it.
If you are in need of medial attention, worried about your safety, or the safety of anybody else, please contact 999 for emergency services.
To access support, call your local team on the day that you would like support.
- Kirklees area: 07741900395 (3:30pm – 9pm)
- Leeds: 07760173476 (3:30pm – 9pm)
- Wakefield and 5 Towns: 07776962815 (6pm – Midnight)
If you don’t have credit or feel worried about calling, you can also text our Kirklees and Wakefield Teams and they will call you back to ask a few questions to better understand how we can support you.
Urgent Care Boxes
We try to give urgent care packs if you are currently struggling in your home or are homeless. These generally include:
- Bottled Water
- High energy snacks
- Soap and sanitiser
- Sanitary products
- Personal Safety Alarm
Please be aware these are limited and may not always be available as we provide these through donations.
Training Workshops and Awareness Sessions to Organisations:
We can deliver information sessions on what our service is and how people can access support to organisations. This includes us sharing our experience and knowledge on how to support people who may be struggling with thoughts or self-harm or suicide to increase the confidence of your workforce or group.
We have recently delivered these to Yorkshire Ambulance Service, local community groups, councillors, job centres, volunteers, and NHS services, with excellent feedback.
To enquire about these, please contact: hereforyou@touchstonesupport.org.uk
Please note these general sessions are not accredited training courses and for SafeTalk or ASIST training, delivered by Touchstone or Partners, these would need to be booked in line with information we share separately on our main Touchstone pages.
Talking about Suicide Saves Lives
1 in 5 of us will think about suicide at some point in our lives but many of us struggle to talk about it. At Here For You, we want to help change the narrative around talking about suicide. We work with the public and other professionals to encourage and support conversations about suicide and suicide prevention.
In partnership with other Touchstone services and partner organisations, we have created a Short Support Guide to Talking about Suicide for the Public and Other Professionals. You can download our resource to read and share below.
