Rotherham Safe Space supports anyone experiencing a mental health crisis in Rotherham and the surrounding areas. It provides a safe place during the weekend evenings designed for people in crisis to go for support and to prevent avoidable attendances at A&E.
What we offer:
We offer a non-clinical alternative to A & E aimed at reducing distress and working with people to resolve or better manage crisis they are experiencing.
The space offers one-to-one support and a social space, where refreshments and hot food will be available, as well as opportunities to chat with other people using the service.
How to refer:
To refer yourself (if you feel you are in crisis) or someone you work with, please call us on the below phone number on the evening you or the person you are working with would like to come along for support.
To secure support, it is best to call between 6-7pm; however, we do take late referrals wherever possible and our phone lines are open until midnight.
Referral Phone Number: 07760 173504 or our Freephone Number: 0808 175 3991
We will then contact you to let you know whether or not we have space to support you that evening. Sometimes we may not be able to support you that evening but we will always let you know and try to talk you through other options available.
There may be some times where we might decline support. This can include :
- Acute intoxication
- Acute psychosis (only where this poses a risk to others)
- Alcohol and substance withdrawal
- Injury / overdose requiring treatment/observation
- Inappropriate referral
- Where other services may offer more suitable support for the person that evening
