Our brilliant BME Dementia Service are really pleased to announce that our initiative has been shortlisted as one of three finalists and, as such, we will be presenting our initiative at the Alzheimer Europe Conference in Helsinki, Finland.
The 2023 award call focused on projects, campaigns, films/videos or publications/books, which aim to address the stigma attached to dementia. In particular, it focused on initiatives and campaigns addressing the stigma experienced by people with dementia and carers from specific groups i.e.:
- Minority ethnic groups
- LGBTQ+ community
- People with intellectual disabilities and/or Down’s syndrome.
- Socio-economically disadvantaged groups
The service are thrilled to have been recognised for their hard work in supporting people in BME communities to cope with dementia, Alzheimer’s, and memory loss. A huge thank you goes out to everybody who has supported them and helped them reach this prestigious stage.
