ITV News presenter Charlene White took centre stage on 12th May to host the Excellence in Diversity Awards, celebrating inclusive employers and diversity champions. Companies and charities nationwide were honoured at the ceremony at The Queens Hotel in Leeds.
Over a thousand nominations had been received showcasing incredible achievements in promoting equality. A panel of judges including Miranda Wayland (ITV), Sharon Pegg (The Co-operative Group) and Andy Woodfield (PwC) gathered earlier this year to finalise the shortlist.
The ceremony began with an inspirational speech from Changing Faces Founder, James Partridge OBE, discussing the importance of face equality. He said “Facial disfigurement has for far too long been a taboo subject – and I am proud of the work that Changing Faces has done.” James thanked the Excellence in Diversity Awards and the shortlisted nominees in the room for their devotion to diversity and inclusion.
Founder Paul Sesay welcomed guests and discussed the inspiration behind the awards. As passionately as ever, Sesay said “It is through people like you, that change can happen.”
Touchstone were highly commended in the charity category. The category was won by St Mungo’s, who support homeless people in London.
