The Recovery Centre at Asket House is an innovative partnership project comprising Touchstone, LYPFT, Community Links and Leeds Mind.
Touchstone employs two full-time recovery workers, whose role is to form supportive relationships with service users on ward, then support them to move out into the community. Once the transition is complete, recovery workers can continue to provide support for an additional six months.
The ethos behind the new project is that providing strong support following a move from hospital back into the community will ease service users’ natural anxieties and ultimately lead to fewer relapses in the early stages of move-on. Recovery workers work closely with care coordinators and ward staff to provide comprehensive packages of care for service users.
The partnership agree that each organisation involved contributes in a unique way, and Touchstone workers are therefore encouraged to retain links to Touchstone via away days, events such as the organisation-wide Tour de Touchstone, masterclasses, as well as in more ongoing ways
such as team meetings, and regular supervision. Recovery workers identify as Touchstone staff, and enjoyed the opportunity to present their work at Touchstone’s Away Day in July. They really liked the wigs!
In an exciting new development, Touchstone now have a Care Co-ordinator role at the Recovery Centre, which will be recruited to shortly.
