On Friday 7th July, third sector organisations will launch Being You Leeds, a new partnership to support people in Leeds to connect with others and stay well for longer.

Being You Leeds will support Leeds residents, aged 16+, through three key ways:

  • Running fun and welcoming wellbeing groups and activities, 7 days a week, including evenings and weekends, with activities chosen by group members.
  • Providing training and awareness-raising sessions about mental health to both community organisations and the general public.
  • Tackling stigma and discrimination around mental health in the city, through activities and training, campaigns, and strategic partnership work.

The service will be delivered by a range of third sector partners across Leeds, including Touchstone, Barca, Hamara, Health for All, Holbeck Together, LS14 Trust, Women’s Health Matters, Humans Being and Community Links. Each organisation has different strengths and, by working together, we can reach and support as many communities as we can across Leeds.

Community Health Services Manager at Touchstone, Karen Fenton said:

“We are really excited to launch Being You Leeds and share our brilliant calendar of groups, activities, training and anti-stigma work, which have all been designed with communities in Leeds. We know loneliness, isolation and stigma are real problems for many people. We want to create welcoming, fun spaces for people to connect with others, learn new skills and feel good about themselves. Our work will also feed into making our city a safer, better place to live for people with mental health conditions. We are privileged to be working with so many brilliant organisations and the wonderful people of Leeds to make these positive changes happen in our city.”
