Tuesday 10/9/19 this week represents World Suicide Prevention Day around the world.  As a worker in this service who has personally been bereaved by suicide, as well as supporting visitors to our service who have always experienced this – I feel it is incredibly important that as a service that we acknowledge and reflect on the impact suicide can have on people…
It is really essential for an event like World Suicide Prevention Day to bring awareness internationally to attempt to prevent suicide, though this is a message we hold every day for visitors to our service – we are here 7 evenings/nights a week. We will not judge you for being in pain and feeling suicidal – we will offer a safe space, where you can access 1-1 support to embrace the sense of crisis you feel in a warm way.
If you are in the Leeds area and feeling alone, like you have on place to turn, on Tuesday  World Suicide Prevention Day, or any other day – we will be here to offer help. You can refer to us by calling or texting the service as explained below:

We offer a genuinely safe place – with caring staff/support workers, offering the following services: A non-judgemental social place to relax in, freshly cooked food with hot/cold drinks on tap (no charge), 1 to 1 therapeutic support sessions (up to an hour – from a person centred standpoint), practical support – with a focus on social crisis, information and signposting to others helpful services in Leeds, as well as having board games, art books, music and even a pool table that can be used by anyone. The Well-Bean – Hope in a Crisis Café is a service run in partnership between Touchstone and Leeds Survivor Led Crisis Service. Please find flyers for both sites of the Well-Bean Hope in a Crisis Café below.

Leeds Survivor Led Crisis Service also provide a number of Crisis Services (face to face) and via  phone or text.  Their website is lslcs.org.uk for information on the rest of their service, including day time support as well as a number of different support groups.

THE CONNECT HELPLINE is open every night of the year, 6pm to 2 am. They offer phone, text and online support is you feel like you don’t want to leave/cant leave where you are currently. Call them on 0808 800 1212 or go to www.lslcs.org.uk to refer for online support.
